The operation will take place over approximately 10 hectares of land opposite Eucalypt Close winin the grounds of the Eraring Power Station on Saturday and possibly Sunday.
The Lakes Team fire mitigation officer Matt Horwood said there may be some smoke and fire activity visible from local roadways during and after the hazard reduction operations.
''Motorists in these areas should slow down and take care if driving through smoke, including keeping windows up and turning their headlights on,'' Mr Horwood said.
''Residents in these areas should take the appropriate precautions including keeping doors and windows closed, remove washing from clothes lines and ensure any pets are in a protected area.''
The hazard reduction burns are due to start at 9am and finish at 6pm, but may be re-scheduled if the weather conditions are inappropriate.
