Now the school will create a large outdoor learning area thanks to $5000 worth of state funding.
The school received an Eco Schools grant, which aims to get students thinking about a sustainable future, and a grant from the Food Gardens in Schools program, which encourages students to grow and cook their own food.
Teacher Vanessa Miller said the outdoor learning area will include veggie gardens, sensory gardens, an outdoor kitchen and lots of environmentally friendly learning spaces
"There's nothing like it in other schools in the area," Ms Miller said.
The entire Cooranbong community would benefit from the project, as the school will host workshops for other schools and community groups in the outdoor learning area, Ms Miller said.
Member for Lake Macquarie Greg Piper presented the grants and congratulated the school on showing initiative to enhance the environment.
