WITH all due respect to the statue subject nominees listed so far ("Pride of place up for grabs", Lakes Mail, Feb 19) I find it astonishing that Barbara King is not a nominee.

I'm a born and bred Morisset boy and proud to say so.
Barbara did so much for the youth of our town and if not for her, a great number of the 70s and 80s youth would not be where we are now.
Barb, with the help of others, had no problem loading 40 to 50 kids and teenagers of that time onto buses and taking us to Luna Park and returning us home safe and sound.
Not only this, she has bought warmth, comfort and support to families who have lost loved ones in our area and beyond, through her funeral services.
Barb was there at the time of the terrible Bali bombing atrocity in 2002. She was at the coal face assisting those who sustained horrific injuries and unfortunately death.
This beautiful lady cannot be ignored when it comes to the honour of being immortalised in our town centre.
