Lake Macquarie City Council's waste, environment and rangers manager, Keith Stevenson, said the practice is dangerous to motorists, and council rangers have the power to book skaters who endanger road users.
"While clearly safety for the young people involved and our city's motorists is the highest priority ... anyone who rides a skateboard or similar vehicle on a road and obstructs, inconveniences or causes danger to another road user is committing an offence," Mr Stevenson said.
