Bins go to raise awareness

Binless Playground Day is an annual event organised by Hunter environmental education network, ECOEDGE, and supported by Hunter Local Land Services (LLS).
Plastic bag ban urged
NSW Greens have renewed their call for the state government to ban singlet-style non-biodegradable plastic bags. Greens candidate for Swansea, Phillipa Parsons, said: "Plastic is the most common item removed by volunteers on Clean Up Australia Day. They do not biodegrade but break down into smaller and smaller pieces. That plastic, left in the environment, will outlive us all."
Affordable housing not ruled out
CONCEPT plans for possible "affordable seniors accommodation" will be considered by Wyong Shire Council for land at Buff Point. Council resolved to defer the decision to remove the rezoning of Buff Point Oval for affordable housing following negative reaction to plans to rezone land at Wadlaba for the same purpose.
