MORE than $3 million in projects aimed at improving safety and accessibility for boat users have been announced for Lake Macquarie and Tuggerah Lakes.

The state government will invest $3.08 million on 13 key local boating projects.
The projects will be delivered as part of the Lake Macquarie-Tuggerah Lakes Regional Boating Plan. Key projects include:
● installing pontoons at the boat ramps at Sunshine Park, T.H. Halton Park and Chittaway Bay (Kaluah Drive);
● upgrading the boat ramp and parking at Lions Park, Toronto;
● upgrade parking at Thomas Humphreys Reserve, Balmoral Reserve and The Esplanade boat ramps;
● installing dinghy storage racks at Lake Macquarie; and
● constructing a new ramp at the hot-water outlet at San Remo.
Other projects will include upgrades to boating infrastructure such as boat trailer parking facilities, jetties and pontoons.
Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime Services will now work with each council to finalise the scope of each project, including funding and timeframes.
