The ride takes cyclists around the picturesque shores of Lake Macquarie. The finishing point is Speers Point Park.
But there are several starting points, including at Morisset, from Lions Park, near the train station. Many cyclists will start and finish their ride at Speers Point Park.
Loop the Lake offers three routes for cyclists of different levels of experience: an 85-kilometre ride for strong cyclists; a part-loop ride of 50km; and a 16km ride for beginners and families.
The event is organised by Warners Bay Rotary, who raise money for charity from the ride.
This year, junior cyclists 15 years and younger, can ride free if accompanied by an adult (applies to a maximum of two junior cyclists per adult rider). Best of all, the event is on, rain or shine.
■ Register by visiting loopthelake.com.au or on the day at Speers Point Park, Morisset, or Belmont South.
