LAST week, the council arborist confirmed our suspicions that two beautiful gum trees on our footpath in Lake Street, Wyee Point, had been poisoned by some low-life.
The trees not only provide shade for us in the summer, but also attract an amazing variety of birds.
The most likely reasons for these acts of bastardry in urban areas are for better views, to minimise leaf litter or to maximise output from solar panels.
To know that someone in our neighbourhood can be so selfish and greedy that they would deliberately sneak in the night, drill holes and poison these trees is sickening.
Proverbs 22:8 says: "Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity".
