This is due to the heavy reduction in the demand for coal from overseas countries, particularly China, and the consequent drop in prices by almost half which has resulted in huge stockpiles in Newcastle.
However, I notice Centennial Coal has applied for a part 3A modification to their output approval from 2 million tonnes per year to 3 million tonnes at Myuna.
This raises two questions: What do they know that no one else does?
And does this mean that there will be a further reduction in domestic electricity prices?
