THOSE who can recall lounging in bean bags and listening to Mike Oldfield's 1973 prog rock masterpiece Tubular Bells, on vinyl, will be interested in a performance planned at Fort Scratchley, in Newcastle, this Saturday.
Young musos Daniel Holdsworth and Aidan Roberts will team up to perform Tubular Bells For Two.
Their show was a sell-out hit at several international festivals.
Arguably the most unlikely smash hit record ever released, Tubular Bells was a beautiful and sprawling progressive Celtic-folk-rock opus that shot to No. 1 on album charts around the world.
The original album required the skills of 30 musicians.
But Holdsworth and Roberts faithfully recreate it in real time with just two hands and two feet each.
They leap between the instruments strewn across the stage in a show which is a musical tour de force, a faithful interpretation of the album, and a physical marathon.
Tubular Bells For Two will be staged at the Fort Scratchley parade ground from 8pm on Saturday, January 31.
Tickets cost $38 for adults and $32 for concessions.
