After losing a few regular first grade players from his 2014 squad, coach Barrie Moore said he was more than happy with the new signings.
The recruits are led by the Central Coast trio of winger Jarred Flack, fullback Mitch Manson and five-eighth Tim Bovis.
The three were signed on the recommendation of Scorpions hooker and 2014 Newcastle Player of the Year Chris Hyde, who has an intimate knowledge of the Central Coast competition.
"The first thing these guys bring is depth, which is something we didn't have last year when we lost seven first graders through injury," Moore said.
He gave the new players a huge rap, particularly Bovis.
"Timmy is one of the most experienced blokes on the Central Coast. If he is in the right frame of mind, he can make the representative side up here and be one of the best players," he said.
Another signing is centre Teason Faavae Eli, who Moore had previously coached at South Newcastle.
"He brings three or four years of experience from South Newcastle and, before that, he was with the Knights," Moore said.
"He's been a regular first grader for the last four years so I was quiet happy [to sign him]."
Moore said he also expects a number of local juniors to make the jump to first grade this season.
"I'm still big on local juniors - last year we had seven or eight local juniors [in the first grade side]," Moore said.
"Some of our under-18s from last year have come up and played reserve grade. Some of them will get an opportunity and may play some first grade.
"That's what we are about, we give them a chance. They're only going to get better by having a run up in the higher grades."
The Scorpions will play four home trials before starting the season with an away game against Port Stephens in April.
