In State Parliament, Ms Berejiklian said the government was monitoring the issue and had provided more and better train and bus services for Lake Macquarie.
South Lake Macquarie Public Transport Action Group chairwoman Noleen Robinson said the minister had clearly missed the point.
"This minister is downright insulting our intelligence with her reply," Ms Robinson said.
"This minister just does not get it. Do we need to draw her a diagram using coloured crayons?"
Ms Robinson said more trains and buses on existing routes aren't needed.
"What's needed is a direct bus service to the hospital and Lake Haven Shopping Centre to access Centrelink, for Heaven's sake."
