It means foxes must be controlled by landholders on their properties.
"Importantly, the pest control order will allow for additional options for co-ordinated control, meaning Local Land Services can more effectively target foxes in localised campaigns," Minister for Primary Industries Katrina Hodgkinson said.
Locally, foxes have become a growing headache for owners of chickens and small pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs.
The Lakes Mail recently published the story of Arcadia Vale residents Amy and Luke Ferguson whose chickens were killed by a fox that entered their coup.
