The Morisset peninsula is a long way from being ready for the scale of development envisaged.
Lindsay from Sunshine (From the web, Lakes Mail, November 20) would like to eat there.
For decades, the area had restaurants open then close for lack of patronage. Why would a large restaurant 7 kilometres outside of Morisset be more likely to survive?
Perhaps Lindsay wouldn't mind if they built a 158-room, four-storey hotel on the reserve next to the South Lake Macquarie Yacht Club, at Sunshine, where he lives, with a 188-berth marina beside it?
Also, how are the proponents going to fill the 158-room hotel plus 76 tourist apartments throughout the year?
Another white elephant? People enjoy living and holidaying here because of the environment.
Our waterway is used mainly for recreational boating, but the marina will cut off one third of the entrance to one of the best bays in the south.
I can't see many boat owners anywhere around here paying big bucks every month for a marina berth when they have their boat nearer home on a mooring for around $200 a year.
