The NSW Department of Planning and Environment has written to advise residents about the modification application submitted by the proponent, Johnson Property Group (JPG).
The modification request relates to the land-based (non-marina) components of the approved concept plan.
The modifications seek to:
■ increase the short stay accommodation from 75 rooms to 158 rooms;
■ increase the number of residential apartments from 75 to 157;
■ increase the number of seats associated with the cafe;
■ change the build form, building heights and setbacks, and car parking of the land-based components; and
■ amend the configuration of public and open space.
The NSW government approved a concept plan five years ago for the 23-hectare Trinity Point site.
JPG has addressed questions about the appropriateness of hosting recent launches of Trinity Point before final approvals had been issued.
"The only debate is the detail," developer Keith Johnson said, adding that investors called for the extra units.
The modification request and associated documents can be viewed at Morisset Library, Lake Macquarie City Council, and on the Department of Planning and Environment website.
Public submissions must reach the department by Friday, December 19.
