When asked why men seem reluctant to cook indoors but take control of the barbecue outdoors, 77 per cent of their female partners sited "caveman instinct" as the key reason.

"Gathering around an open flame to cook meat and share a drink and banter with your mates is part of being a bloke," BeefEater Barbecues general manager Hal Linstrom said.
