PUBLIC urination, and foul and abusive language have prompted a proposed alcohol ban in Morisset Lions Park.
Businesses on Dora Street have told Lake Macquarie City Council of "regular gatherings on a daily basis" of people drinking alcohol in the park, and behaving badly.
The council has recommended the establishment of a 24-hour alcohol prohibited area in the park.
Signs warning of the alcohol ban would be erected in the park.
Council said the requested ban was raised by Bonnells Bay Progress Association, Sunshine Progress Association and Morisset Business Chamber.
Support for the proposal has also been received from police, Rail Corporation NSW, Morisset Country Club, and Lake Macquarie Hotel, council said.
Meanwhile, the council has voted to re-establish alcohol restrictions for New Year's Eve at Wangi Wangi.
The restrictions would ban alcohol consumption from the Watkins Road and Kent Place foreshore reserve 200 metres north and south of Wangi Wangi RSL Club.
The ban would be from 9.30pm on New Year's Eve until 7am on New Year's Day.
Both recommendations were made last week, and will be considered at the full council meeting on Monday night.
