A MAN has suffered second-degree burns and bleeding on the brain after he was assaulted with a piece of wood and scalded with a pot of boiling water during a violent home invasion at Dora Creek on Wednesday morning.

Lake Macquarie police say the man, 32, was confronted by two men inside his Cowell Street home about 6.20am.
The intruders forced their way in and hit the man with a piece of wood, police said.
They also threw a pot of boiling water from the stove onto the man causing burns to his back and arms.
The two men fled empty-handed and got into a vehicle.
Lake Macquarie police are investigating and established a crime scene at the home.
The injured man was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital and is undergoing treatment for second-degree burns to his back and arm and bleeding on the brain.
He is in a stable condition.
An investigation is underway and police are appealing for public assistance to identify and locate the men involved.
