The state series is determined by a rider's best results over six rounds.
Landon was coming second overall before a thrilling finish at the state titles at Sydney's Macarthur Track saw the Morisset local finish first and take home the gold.
He also claimed silver in the 20-inch division.
Landon has been competing in BMX for three years with Maitland-Tenambit BMX club.
"I rode to school with my friends so that's how I got into it," Landon said.
He said he enjoys the sport because he can do all of the fun things a bike can offer in a competitive environment.
"You get to go fast, do jumps, manuals [rear wheel stands] - it's really fun," he said.
It's an exciting time in Lake Macquarie for BMX , one of the sports to feature in the Lake Macquarie International Children's Games (ICG) in December.
Although Landon is too young to compete in the ICG, he will get to be part of the festivities when he rides in a BMX exhibition.
Landon has travelled all over the state to compete in events.
This year he also travelled to Shepparton, in Victoria, to take part in National BMX Championships.
In his first time competing in the event, Landon made it to the quarter finals in the cruisers.
Next year he hopes to make the finals in the national titles.
