Tamworth was cruising at 1-44 before a dramatic collapse saw them rolled for just 64.
Toronto's left-arm orthodox spin twins Josh Newell (five wickets) and Nathan Hudson (three wickets) spearheaded the rout.
The remaining two wickets fell to run outs.
Toronto's run chase stumbled early when skipper Joe Price was dismissed on the third ball of the innings.
But the Kookaburras were able to reach their target with two wickets in hand.
Club president Aaron Gray said it was a remarkable win.
"Our guys travelled to Tamworth on Saturday night after a tough day in the field against Merewether," Gray said.
"At Tamworth, they lost the toss and were put into the field again, this time in 40-plus-degree temperatures," he said.
Gray said the win lifted players' spirits.
"Tamworth played in the final at the SCG last season, so they're a quality team. It was a really big win for us."
The Kookaburras will take on fellow Newcastle district club Wests at Ron Hill Oval, Toronto, in the third round of the statewide SCG Cup on Sunday, November 16.
