I have even seen shipping delayed by them at great expense.
But do Greenies ever roll up their sleeves?
Around Lake Macquarie, especially the Dora Creek area, there are thousands of trees being destroyed, or stunted, because lantana growth is out of control.
In my street alone lantana now stretches up into the tree canopy.
All that's needed is a bit of organised effort - similar to that often seen in rallies of disruption - to physically pull out this weed.
Having only surface roots makes the job easy. I know, because my property was heavily infested but I, an old codger, managed to remove it by hand.
I think it's about time these Greenies, especially the young ones, prove that they are not just a bunch of sheep being herded by professional political activists, and start to roll up their sleeves.
They should be familiar with the phrase "actions speak louder than words".
And with genuine organisation, I see no reason why councils would not offer assistance. This would be a true test of their passion.
But from what I see, I do not expect wonders. So, please surprise me.
