OUR councils are often criticised by ratepayers for perceived shortcomings, so after spending the most enjoyable day out with our grandchildren at the Lake Macquarie Variety Park at Speers Point we wanted to say well done to Lake Macquarie City Council.

The park is amazing ... well set out with so many shady trees and room to allow children to just be.
There are slides, swings, water features, climbing areas and something for every age group.
The equipment is well maintained, the beautiful landscaping so relaxing and, importantly, lots of seating for the adults.
Top that off with a nice cafe on site and it made for an amazing three hours of fun for us all.
Well done, council, thank you.
