The Northern NSW Football Association (NNSWFA) is expanding the competition from eight to 10 teams.
First grade coach Gary Bartlett said the club should be strongly considered because of its location.
"If NNSWFA are serious in promoting the game through northern NSW, then geographically Morisset United is ideally located, as we are the most southerly club under the NNSWFA banner," Bartlett said.
Morisset United finished eighth last season in the ZF League 1 first grade competition.
But Bartlett said the team has an average age of 21 and, in recent years, has had a number of home-grown players poached by other clubs.
"Morisset United have for far too long been a feeder club," he said.
"Other clubs have been poaching and enticing Morisset United players away for years so, if [our bid is] successful, Morisset United can offer the local juniors a clear pathway to a high standard of competitive football in their own backyard.
"We would also welcome the return of former players who currently play for other clubs in NNSWFA competitions."
Bartlett said with the return of local players he believes the club can recapture the form that saw them go through their competition undefeated in 2010. The club's senior vice-president and Gary's son, David Bartlett, said the club is in the perfect position to recruit new players from southern Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast.
The decision on which two teams will join the NEWFM first division competition will be made by NNSWFA this Saturday.
