The singer-songwriter said she took a gamble coming out as an original artist in early 2013, but hasn't looked back.
She is putting the finishing touches on her debut country/pop album, which features a number of big name country artists.
Mollie McClymont from the McClymonts, Morgan Evans, Troy Kemp and Damien Baguley from the Viper Creek Band co-wrote songs for the album.
"I've been writing songs throughout the process and finding my inner voice," Wheatley said.
Her first single Overrated peaked at number six on the Australian Country Singles iTunes chart and was also named one of the top five songs in the country song category at the 2013 Australian Independent Music Oz Awards.
Punters at the Greater Toronto Spring Fair will get a sneak peek at some of the new songs off the album, which will be released in a couple of months.
"This album is me right down to a T - I couldn't be happier with the overall sound of the album and I just want to get out there and play these tracks," she said.
"I'm super excited to perform somewhere locally, with a lovely crowd that's ready to enjoy the day."
