LOCALS are urged to roll up their sleeves and help give some Lake Macquarie community buildings a facelift in October.
CityServe, an initiative of Hunter Christian churches, is teaming up with Lake Macquarie Council on the month-long project.
The idea is to mobilise volunteers to complete practical and much needed service projects.
"I think it is wonderful to see volunteers from the community come together to help improve facilities throughout the city so that everyone can enjoy them," mayor Jodie Harrison said.
CityServe chairman Rick Prosser said CityServe was a unique initiative which sees the church, business, council and community working together.
CityServe will help work on more than 25 projects across Lake Macquarie.
The works will include general tidy ups, mulching of garden beds, and painting.
