The latest police operation targeting unlicensed riders involved police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command (LAC) and NSW Forest Corporation, and was held from 6am to 6pm on Sunday in the Watagan State Forest, near Mandalong, and Watagans National Park, near Martinsville.
Specialist police trail bike riders conducted patrols of the main fire trails.
Twelve vehicles were stopped and checks revealed that every vehicle was compliant with licensing and registration requirements.
Lake Macquarie LAC commander, Superintendent Brett Greentree, was pleased with the results and the fact that trail bike riders are beginning to take responsibility for their own safety.
