THE Glendale transport interchange is the key Lake Macquarie project that should be funded by proceeds from the state government's lease of the Port of Newcastle, Member for Charlton, Pat Conroy, has told federal parliament.

"So far, $37.5 million has been forthcoming, from all levels of government, and I understand Lake Macquarie City Council has allocated a significant proportion of this to the current capital works program," Mr Conroy said.
But further funding was required to complete the project, he said.
