RAIN ended Toronto rookie golf professional Callan O'Reilly's hopes of progressing past the first stage of the European Tour Q-School in Austria on Friday.
O'Reilly was three shots outside the top 26 who qualified for the second stage in Spain in November when play was cancelled after 54 holes.
Golf club Schloss Ebreichsdorf was deemed unplayable after heavy rain overnight.
O'Reilly opened with a round of two over 74 and 72, before he exploded into reckoning following a third-round 67, which included seven birdies.
The cancellation of the fourth round left him stranded at three under in 34th place, three shots beyond the cut. It was O'Reilly's first attempt to qualify for one of the world's leading golf tours.
His father and Toronto pennants squad member Tim O'Reilly said his son was bitterly disappointed to have travelled to Austria and then be denied a chance due to weather.
"At least it's given him his path now," O'Reilly said.
"If he'd made the second stage, he would have missed the Australian Masters and NSW Open, so at least he's committed to those."
