THIS Sunday is the United Nations International Day of Peace, and to mark the occasion South Lake Macquarie RSL sub-branch will host an event with Avondale College, at Cooranbong, from 2pm.

Event spokesman John Hegarty said the day is a chance for the world to honour the commitment of the armed forces to humanity's ultimate but most elusive goal - peace.
Professor Daniel Reynaud will speak, as will World Citizens Association of Australia president Chris Hamer.
The free event will also have art displays, information stalls and citizenship affirmation ceremonies.
