I WRITE in regard to the collapsed embankment along Alexander Parade in Arcadia Vale.
The road first collapsed in early March and seven months down the track nothing has been done.
The council has said there is no money available to fix the road, but there is no reason they can't start planning and awarding contracts. That would speed up the process once the funds become available to fix it.
My other concern is the heavy traffic that has been diverted along little side streets since Alexander Parade has been made one- way.
Many of the side streets are feeling the effects of the large trucks that now routinely drive along them and are starting to break up.
Recently I was driving along Alexander Parade and a large semi-trailer took up the whole road to get out of the side street it had been diverted to.
I had to stop well short to let it pass.
Another issue is the stop sign at the Donnelly Road intersection.
To me, a stop sign shouldn't stop 98 per cent of the traffic - a give-way sign at that location would be fair enough.
In 2011, a stop sign was put up in the same spot, but the council took it down because it was not approved.
Council rates have gone up dramatically over the last couple of years, but we are yet to see any improvement in services.
