LIVE music, stalls, children's entertainment and displays of everything from native landscaping to backyard beekeeping will be highlights of a free garden-themed open day at Toronto Community Hub this Saturday.
"The Community Hub is the new name for the former Toronto Senior Citizens Centre, at 97 The Boulevarde, which is now administered by Toronto Lions Club and other community members," event publicity officer Paul Regan said.
"Changes at the centre mean people of all ages can now join as members and take part in a growing range of new activities all week."
Saturday's event, from 11am to 3pm, promises something fun for everyone in the family, he said.
The Bill Bolton Band will provide the music, and there will be a traditional smoking ceremony hosted by Aboriginal elders.
There will be a stack of displays highlighting native landscaping, aquaponics, no-dig gardening and backyard beekeeping.
"There will also be garden-themed stalls and free plants to give away," Mr Regan said.
"The day will also be a chance to show off a new community garden being established at the centre."
