The hall is used frequently by all age groups. We have 80-plus hours of hiring each week.
Many of our younger members recently joined our association because they are fighting to retain the hall in memory of their ancestors who are listed on our honour rolls.
The reason the stage is not used for dance events is that it is carpeted.
The present stage is similar in size to stages in other local community halls.
There is no evidence of any stage in the plans for the new community building.
The proposed new building does not comply with council's own requirements for Morisset Town Centre: "To ensure that building design respects the traditional building elements and patterns of the rural town; Building design must not detract from traditional character buildings and must allow for smaller scale frontages on sloping sites and deep box awnings over footpath".
Our association is well aware of the need for more community facilities in the Morisset area, but we cannot see any reason why this should include demolishing Morisset Memorial Hall.
Finally, visit our new website (morissethall.org.au) to find out why the adverse comments made over the last six months are simply not true.
