I AGREE with residents' comments regarding the planned sale of Fennell Bay Community Hall ("Residents riled up over hall sale", Lakes Mail, August 7).

Sometimes Lake Macquarie Council has only two rules: We can. You can't.
Several years ago Toronto Senior Citizens Hall (TSCH) had the same issue when council tried to remove their building on Cary Street without consent.
Council wanted the property offering no compensation. Legal advice was sought and the council backed down.
Council got their "bit of land" and the senior citizens of Toronto got a new hall on Awaba Road.
Typical of many councils they say they consult the community extensively, but how many people did they reach?
I read your paper, I listen to the radio, and receive leaflets from LMCC, but do not recall anything about Fennell Bay Community Hall.
It may appear to be too late but it took a very long time to get the TSCH issue resolved, so never say never.
