An RMS spokesperson said the two-month inspection found the bridge was structurally sound and did not need immediate maintenance.

A barge and boom lift was used for the final part of the investigation to get a closer look at the underside of the bridge.

The RMS also carried out maintenance work on the bridge, which involved adjusting the existing stairs and upgrading the lighting on the southern end.
