The aerial photograph published in the Lakes Mail clearly shows the severely restricted outflow at the Swansea bridge crossover.
Mr Walker's objection appears to be on council costs, rather than the merit of the much-needed project.
Of course, I would expect council to pursue funding through state and federal avenues. I am not even asking for extra funding, but a transfer of existing and allocated state funds to this project.
Council should leave no stone unturned in their duty to the owners of the 10,000 properties they deem to be uninhabitable in the next 50 to 100 years, due to flooding, and place a request for funding in the hands of the state government before the next election.
I call on the owners of these properties to speak out through various media outlets.
Because of our presence, the lake is not as pristine as it once was, and apart from saving thousands of homes, a good flush out from an extra inlet will do more good than harm.
