At 1.20pm yesterday, police were called to a home on Grand Parade.
It will be alleged a man entered the home and approached a 55-year-old resident, sitting at a computer, and hit him over the head with an object.
The two men struggled and the alleged intruder ran from the premises, police said.
A 79-year-old woman who was in the home at the time was not injured.
The 55-year-old man was taken to hospital and received four stiches to his head before being released.
Police investigations led to the arrest of a man at his nearby home about 2pm yesterday.
The 50-year-old was taken to Toronto police station and charged with aggravated break and enter.
He was refused bail to appear in Toronto Local Court today.
