What a pleasant experience it was to see how clean the water had become and how much of the foreshores had been rehabilitated and native plants re-established after most of the industrial sites had been cleared.
Previously these industries were required to pay a licence fee for discharging toxic wastes into the river. Now the Abbott government has repealed the tax paid by coal-fired power stations for their toxic emissions into the air.
