The Scorpions led 18-10 at the break, but faded in the second half.
Coach Barrie Moore said a win this Saturday against Central Charlestown at Toronto was vital.
"We're still in third spot on the ladder with a game in hand, but have a very tough run into the semi-finals with the last three games being against South Newcastle, Western Suburbs and Cessnock," Moore said.
On Saturday, the action starts at Lyall Peacock Field with the under-18s match at 11am. First Grade kicks off at 3pm.
