NICE to see that Wyong Council is grandstanding in the media about the purchase of land for the proposed regional airport at Jilliby.

Pity they didn't spend half as much time responding to emails by concerned residents who live in Jilliby, those ratepaying residents who stand to have the peace and tranquillity of their rural settings shattered by planes as large as Boeing 737s flying overhead at all hours, and who stand to see their properties devalued by up to 20 per cent.
What has council done to consult with residents most affected about this development? Nothing!
They did a survey of 400 people (not affected by the proposed airport noise) and got 80 per cent support. No surprise there.
How about starting to talk to the affected residents, council?
What is council planning to do to compensate us for the monetary loss of our properties? What are they proposing to do to minimise the noise?
Where are the environmental impact studies on effects of residents?
If the airport had been "on the cards" in the area for years, we would have nothing to complain about. But when we bought our properties the land in question was earmarked as a possible industrial zone, not an airport.
Talk to us, council.
