DAMAGE to the embankment of Alexander Parade, at Arcadia Vale, was unlikely to be the result of mine subsidence, Lake Macquarie City Council said.

The council sought advice on the matter from geotechnical specialists and the NSW Mines Subsidence Board (MSB) following concerns raised by residents.
A council spokesperson said the MSB has advised that the risk of mine subsidence is the area was remote.
"The geotechnical specialists advised that it is consistent with a stability failure rather than mine subsidence."
