The decision ends the nine-year link between the Bondi Junction club and NSW Cup feeder club the Newtown Jets.
The Roosters are instead banking on tapping into the vast football nursery on the Central Coast.
Wyong football manager Matt Lavin said it was great news for the region.
"This is a real boost for not only Wyong rugby league, but league on the Central Coast," Lavin said.
The implications are exciting for Central Coast players who have aspirations of making it in the NRL.
"This direct affiliation with the Roosters means it provides a clear pathway for players from under-6s through to the NRL," he said.
The new arrangement will see some of the Roosters' top contracted players turning out for the Roos, and it means that current Wyong players can realistically push for NRL experience.
Other benefits would also flow to the Roos, Lavin said.
"It means we'll have direct access to not only full-time players feeding back into our NSW Cup team, but access to the coaching, performance, medical and management systems and structures they have in place," he said.
"With the Roosters being the reigning NRL premiers, the timing couldn't be better."
Meanwhile, Wyong believe they must win at least four of their remaining seven matches to compete in this season's NSW Cup semi-finals.
The Roos will host the New Zealand Warriors at Morry Breen Field, Kanwal, this Sunday from 3pm.
