Nicholls, 24, recently headed north to take up a contract with the Brisbane Broncos.
Ford was among Wyong's most creative backs last season, and has been playing in France.
He scored a try for Wyong against Penrith at Sportingbet Stadium on Sunday, but it did not save the Roos from a 32-24 loss.
It was Wyong's fourth loss in six outings, and it leaves the Roos with 12 competition points and 10th on the NSW Cup ladder.
Wyong will take on fourth-placed Mounties at Aubrey Keech Reserve on Saturday.
Wyong scored a 20-16 win over Mounties in their first meeting this season.
Meanwhile, in the Newcastle rugby league premiership, the game scheduled between Macquarie Scorpions and Cessnock last Saturday was washed out.
Macquarie has the bye this weekend.
The Newcastle representative team, the Newcastle Rebels, will take on Canberra in a semi-final of the Country Divisional Championships this Saturday at Morry Breen Field, Kanwal.
