ST Paul's Catholic High School band The Patriots will literally get 15 minutes of fame when they perform at the Maitland Groovin' the Moo this Saturday.
The band has a 15-minute slot on the main stage after being selected to open the music festival by radio station Triple J.
Year 12 students Joey Geyer, Jordan Avellis, Joseph van Lier and Drew Abell-King have been friends since kindergarten and have been jamming together since primary school.
The boys said when they first heard the news that they had been selected, they didn't believe it.
"I thought the website was playing one massive prank on us," Joey said.
One of the biggest challenges for the group has been finding the right balance between music and studying for the Higher School Certificate.
They plan to release an extended play (EP) called Quotations sometime after Groovin' the Moo.
