MORISSET'S Vision Impaired Persons (VIP) group recently celebrated its 10th anniversary with a cruise aboard the Solar Sailor on Lake Macquarie.
Founded in 2004 by the late Eric Power, the VIP group has grown from just a few members to more than 40 today.
Group spokeswoman Shirley Clark said members span a wide age group, and have varying degrees of vision impairment, including blindness.
"With financial support from Pam Cammareri [Eric's daughter] and funds raised by Marie Murdziak, the group spent a wonderful day cruising beautiful Lake Macquarie on the incredibly silent catamaran, Solar Sailor," Ms Clark said.
Morisset Lions Club provided and served a barbecue lunch and dessert.
The anniversary was marked with the cutting of a cake by original VIPs.
