The plan aims to increase youth participation in its overall workforce from the present 8.2per cent to 15per cent.

Council took the initiative after considering a youth employment strategy report on the cost and benefits of directly employing apprentices and trainees.
Council’s Youth Employment Strategy embraces diversity, the engagement of young people through scholarship opportunities, study assistance schemes, school-based apprentices and mentoring programs together with work experience and school curriculum support aid.
