The Twister has been Ron Newling's passion for 30 years. Its unique design makes air spiral or twist as it enters the engine.
He says this twisting allows the air to move to the combustion chamber faster and mix with the fuel more efficiently.
Mr Newling, a fitter and machinist, says on average the Twister can make a car run 15 to 20 per cent more efficiently.
"The average family who fill up once a week could save $1000 a year on fuel," he said.
It doesn't affect the car's warranty and is simple to install. According to Mr Newling "the average Joe Blow can put it in in about five to 10 minutes".
So, why can't we buy it from our local auto store?
Well, it's not from lack of trying. Mr Newling has taken his invention to every car company in Australia, only to be knocked back every time. He also met with a parts retailing chain, but to no avail.
Mr Newling has nearly 50 years of mechanical engineering experience, but says the main reason his creation isn't taken seriously is because he is "a nobody with no backing".
Mr Newling has himself sold 1000 Twisters through word of mouth. Testimonies from customers support his claims about the Twister's effectiveness as a fuel-saving device.
Mr Newling knows people will be sceptical, but encourages them to test the Twister for themselves.
He sells the Twister for $70 and has a 30-day money-back guarantee.
