Invitations out for Australian Northshore Championships

INVITATIONS are extended to sailors to take part in Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto's Australian Championships for Northshore Yachts.

The regatta, to be held at Toronto from August 17 to 19, is billed as "the Hamilton Island Race Week for Northshores, but a lot easier to get to...".

The event will feature spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions, and one design starts in classes that attract entries of five or more.

Eligible yachts include all Northshore models; Cole 19, 23 and Santanas built by Northshore.

The regatta has been scheduled to give visiting yachts time to get their boats home for the start of their spring season.

"We are looking at sourcing boats for interstate competitors who may wish to compete but are not able to transport their boat for the two-day event," a club spokesman said.

"It is hoped the nationals will expand in years to come to a three- or four-day competition; and given the pristine location this will no doubt eventuate."

There will be a buffet style dinner with entertainment on the Saturday night, with the presentation to be held on the Sunday afternoon after racing.
