YOUNG families looking for affordable housing snapped up blocks of land at Cooranbong's newest housing estate on Sunday.
Developer Keith Johnson said 26 blocks sold at Watagan Park within hours of the launch.
"They are selling really well. We've got 38 blocks in this first release and we expect them all to be gone quickly," he said.
"There was one block selling every 10 minutes for the first few hours on Sunday.
"It's a great estate for families. Close to really good schools and very affordable."
Blocks range in price from $150,800 to $178,000.
It was the cheaper price tag that attracted Sydney couple Michael and Roslyn Monteleone to the launch.
"Cooranbong is very different to Sydney. Who wouldn't want to live up here surrounded by the sounds of nature?" Mr Monteleone said.
"We haven't bought yet, but the price definitely has us very interested. We have four children so need a large house which can be very expensive."
Mayor Greg Piper attended the launch and said the development would help create more affordable local housing.
"This land release is about providing affordable housing for families," Mr Piper said.
"Young families are having a lot of trouble getting into the market because it is so expensive."
The blocks are part of a larger development of 2500 lots.
"Once we've sold the first 38, we will open up the next lots, and that won't be far away," Mr Johnson said.
