AN aboriginal land claim involving 110 hectares has been made on land adjacent to Lakes Beach surf club, at Budgewoi.
Wyong Shire Council received a report on the land claims at its meeting last week.
The council outlined its concerns that the good conservation work done in the area be considered in assessment of the claim.
The area was described by councillors as a small and very fragile spit of land.
Councillors acknowledged "the enormous efforts by voluntary groups" to protect it.
They unanimously resolved to reaffirm the continuous partnership with Hargraves Dunecare for the last 17 years and Budgewoi Beach Dunecare Inc and Landcare Group to improve and repair the endemic native vegetation on the lands under claim.
