FORMER Socceroo Clayton Zane has been appointed coach of the Newcastle Jets National Youth League soccer team.
Internationally well experienced, Zane has worked closely with the Jets as W-League coach and looks forward to working with the game's youth.
" As a Novocastrian, I hope to help our current and future Jets youth team players make the grade as professional players," Zane said..
Newcastle-born, Zane returned home after a playing and coaching career abroad which included 14 games for the Socceroos as well as playing with Molde and Anderlecht.
In his four years with Anderlecht, the club won the championship three times and qualified for the Champions League three times and the European Cup once.
Clayton also coached the Queens Park Rangers youth sides in London.
Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said Clayton supported the club's policy of developing local talented football players both on and off the park.
